We need to create a new economy that works for all people and the planet. Cooperatives have been building that economy by creating democratic businesses. This workshop will explore the ways we can convert businesses in Maine to cooperatives and start new cooperatives. We will look at examples in Maine of recent conversions including the Island Employee Cooperative on Deer Isle and Baldwin Apple Ladders along with recent start-up farm and food cooperatives.
